Admissions Coordinator, School of Medicine - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Office of Admissions is the front door of the School of Medicine - both in person and online.  It is responsible for receiving and processing applications for admission to the School for the four-year medical program, the dual-degree program, and the Early Assurance Program.  This mission requires receiving and processing the applications and all documents in support of the applications, and preparing the files for review by the respective Committee on Admissions, and all administrative procedures, including administrative review of files, in support of that process.  It is with this mission in mind that the members of the office strive to affect an efficient process which will accomplish the required goal, while functioning smoothly and effectively. 

The Admissions Coordinator maintains contact and direct relations with prospective students, current students, interviewing faculty, and interviewing students, effecting increasing awareness and enhancing direct relations between the Office of Admissions and its affected parties, especially the recruitment of applicants. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Admissions, the Admissions Coordinator has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Manages the Interview Day process for the approximately 1500 applicants invited to interview each year, to include coordinating applicants, interviewers, deans, and students across departments and sectors; and works closely with faculty, staff, financial aid, and parking to ensure successful execution of Interview Days.
  • Serves as a point of contact for prospective students in person, via phone, and online.
  • In formal and individual meetings, presents clear and accurate information about the School of Medicine - for example, the philosophy, curriculum, electives, student life, and student experiences. 
  • Meets individually with the interviewees who have further questions regarding the application process as well. 
  • Recruits current medical student interviewers through application creation and review.
  • Organizes, creates training materials, and executes Interviewer Workshop trainings
  • Collects, analyzes, and presents in a formal report the outcome of applicant feedback on the interview day experience and makes suggestions/adjustments to the day as necessary. 
  • Compiles an analysis of the Interviewer's applicant results yearly and distribute to interviewers.


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Preference for 2 years office administration experience
  • Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills, including public speaking skills and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations

Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • High confidence level for working with data
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal - and organization skills, and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work on deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FERPA
