Position DescriptionMathematica is a nationally recognized research organization that conducts social policy research in the areas of labor, welfare, education, nutrition, health, child development, disability, and related topics. Our mission is to improve public well-being by bringing the highest standards of quality, objectivity, and excellence to bear on the work we do for federal, state, and local government agencies, as well as private foundations.We are seeking a Contracts Specialist to provide a full range of contract administration services, including drafting contracts and subcontracts. Major responsibilities include contract and subcontract administration and subcontract negotiations. The Contracts Specialist will provide diversified duties requiring knowledge of Mathematica s contract and project activities, policies, procedures, personnel, as well as a working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations and State contracts.Additionally, the Contracts Specialist:Reviews contract and subcontract documents to understand the responsibilities and obligations of the contracting parties and to perform contract and subcontract administrationDrafts subcontracts, and resolves vendor questions or requests related to contractual terms and requirementsPrepares Limitation of Cost notices, requests for subcontract authorization, changes in key personnel, and other contractual correspondenceActively participates in senior management meetings by providing guidance to project teams as it relates to monitoring contract and subcontract cost and technical terms, schedules, and the accomplishment of contractual obligationsPrepares subcontract modifications to implement changes to contract and subcontract agreements and prepares notifications for dissemination to interested staff throughout the companyUpdates the contract management system to incorporate changes based upon contract and subcontract modifications and ensure completeness and accuracy of data and documentsHandles contractual and administrative matters on own initiativeOther duties may be assigned as neededPosition RequirementsBA/BS in Business Administration, Liberal Arts and Sciences, or similar disciplineFive plus years experience in a contract administration positionA combination of equivalent education and work experience may be substituted for the above requirements.Working knowledge of contract terms and conditions, including the Federal Acquisition RegulationsGeneral ability to use common business application software--Word and ExcelAbility to adhere to administrative regulationsAccuracy with work, strong organizational skills, and attention to detailAbility to collect, analyze and process information to develop useful reportsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to deal tactfully and diplomatically with partners and staff at all levelsFlexibility to handle multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under deadline pressure and to set priorities with minimal inputAbility to work independently Periodic Travel may be requiredRecent coursework or certification in contract administration
