Position Summary:The Residential Counselor is required to have general knowledge of rehabilitation and long term mental illness; oversees the daily activities to achieve individuals stated goals; supports clients in daily care of home including housekeeping, maintenance and assist in meal preparation; assists with client community outings; must be able to lift 20lbs or more.Essential duties and responsibilities:Assist in facilitation of member activity as assignedAssist with medication monitoring and money management planning according to policy.Assist with arranging and providing transportation.Transport, accompany and participate in member's appointments as needed.Medication Monitor requires to carry 3-5 pound medication boxes upstairs to clients home.Promote and ensure the health safety and security, organization, and home-like atmosphere of the residential environments of designated residents.Monitor clients' self-administration of medication, as neededPromote effective relationships among members, families and service providers and provide information as appropriate regarding mental illness and Way Station services.Skills and AbilitiesAbility to perform individual assessment, planning and implementation in both structured and unstructured settings.Ability to prioritize member needs and manage time to complete assignments dailyAbility to communicate Way Station's mission to the community through frequent interactions with neighbors, landlords and business people.Skills in word processing and ability to learn computer skills.Ability to communicate orally and in writing.Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation concepts, and a general understanding of mental illness and co-occurring disorders.Education and Experience:Applicant must be able to clear a state and federal background check.College degree preferred; minimum requirement of possession of a high school diploma or GED.Positively referenced relevant work, student or volunteer experience.Must have valid full driver's license and safe driving record.
