Personnel Security Specialist

This position is a Testing Designated Position and is subject to random drug testing.
May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Status candidates must meet time-in-grade requirements (52 weeks at the GS-12 grade level).
Must be able to obtain and maintain and Top Secret clearance.
You may qualify at the GS-0080-13 level if you fulfill one the following qualifications:
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in federal service which demonstrates: 1) Applying principles, concepts, and methods of personnel security or conducting background investigations; 2) Engaging in fact finding, analysis and problem solving sufficient to gather and analyze factual data, and interpret and apply regulations and policies involving personnel security; 3) Demonstrating experience in applying personnel security policies in order to resolve security problems; 4) Initiating and tracking the pre-employment background investigations of applicants, paid interns, and volunteer interns; and 5) Ensuring that a comprehensive evaluation is completed on all applicants.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
