Job SummaryThe Culinary Recruiting Manager, University Relations works with the Sr. Manager, University Relations and properties to understand the Culinary Voyage and Intern staffing needs. This remote position establishes and maintains relationships with the career centers, deans and students at key culinary colleges, universities and relevant organizations to identify, assess and deliver the best qualified candidates to fill entry level culinary and baking and pastry Voyage and Intern positions. The Culinary Recruiting Manager also works with his/her Sr. Manager to insure the right recruiting activities are activated each semester at key culinary colleges and aids in the development of field cadre to assist with the recruiting efforts. This role will also collaborate with appropriate stakeholders to insure connectivity between High School efforts and the collegiate Intern program. During high volume recruiting season, this recruiting manager will be asked to participate in non-culinary recruitment initiatives including all parts of the recruitment cycle. Business/Functional ResultsPartners with Sr. Manager to assess Culinary recruiting needs of the business and develop the appropriate recruiting strategy and programs to deliver top Culinary and Baking & Pastry talentFocuses on building skills of field cadre to enable recruiting excellence and increase Marriott brand loyaltyDevelops sources of diverse candidates to help achieve the business' Diversity & Inclusion goalsPlans recruiting events at key Culinary colleges, universities and community colleges in partnership with the assistance of Sr. ManagerManaging ExecutionSchedules and conducts Culinary recruiting events at key colleges, universities and community colleges in partnership with field cadre and Sr. Managers, as neededBuild effective relationships with culinary schools, Culinary cadre, faculty and students to create sources of talent. They will build credibility with culinary schools by demonstrating commitment, knowledge and concern toward the industry, curriculum and students.Deploy innovative and effective tactics in candidate sourcing including community partnerships, referrals, networks, social channels, events, competitor analysis and moreIdentifies, sources and evaluates prospective Culinary and Baking & Pastry candidates through the "On Campus Recruiting" process; interviews prospective candidates and produces a rank order of recommended candidatesPartner with our business leaders on property and at headquarters to develop and iterate on hiring plans that accelerate us toward Culinary growth and business goalsBuild culinary alumni database to reference for cadre recommendationsDevelop culinary practical guidelines and test environments for Voyage to be streamlined across North AmericaPartners with Marriott on-campus champion to drive attendance at recruiting events and drive interest in Marriott brandsProvides training, as necessary, in interviewing and assessment techniquesProvides recruiting activity reports to Sr. Manager, as requestedTracks key recruiting indicators to determine the effectiveness of current recruiting programs and makes adjustments as necessaryProvides feedback to Sr. Manager on the effectiveness of recruiting collateral and makes recommendations for any necessary changes and/or enhancementsRemains abreast of industry and company trends and is able to discuss these trends with students LeadershipProvides career counseling when appropriateStaying updated on Culinary trends in the restaurant and hospitality industriesInteracts with candidates to obtain feedback on recruitment levels; effectively responds to and handles problems and complaints and engages the Sr. Manager as necessaryEstablishes guidelines so cadre members understand expectations and parametersEnsures cadre members receive on-going training and understand the University Relations team's expectations for intern and Voyage culinary programsObserves interview behaviors of cadre members and provides feedback to individuals; continuously strives to improve assessment performance Financial ManagementPartners with Sr. Manager to monitor recruiting activities of cadre members to insure adequate number of candidates while minimizing travel costsDetermines cost effectiveness of all recruiting programs and event ROI in partnership with Sr. Manager OtherPerforms other duties as appropriateTravel is required - approximately 50-75% Experience and SkillsTwo+ years of management experience requiredTwo+ years demonstrated success in full cycle recruiting and sourcing top talent preferredStrong relationship building skills requiredExcellent written and verbal communication skills requiredStrong presentation skills requiredProven success in managing multiple priorities requiredThree+ years of Hospitality, Culinary or service-oriented industry experience preferredAbility to acquire and maintain relationships with associates, customers, vendors, etc.Ability to influence and coach as neededDemonstrated experience in effective decision-making and problem-solvingAbility to work from home and independently in driving results for the business and in recruitment effortsAbility to navigate many technical platforms, websites and social media venues Education or Certification4-year bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Hospitality, Business Administration, Culinary Arts, Hotel & Restaurant Management or related majorVoyager graduate preferred but not necessary Marriott International is the world's largest hotel company, with more brands, more hotels and more opportunities for associates to grow and succeed.
