Director of Communications
The Global Tools & Storage (GTS) division of Stanley Black & Decker is searching for a , Communications to join our Global Customer Experience Team. In this role, the , Communications will be responsible for leading the development and execution of global communications strategies for all GTS brands including Black + Decker, DEWALT, Craftsman, Stanley, Porter Cable, Bostitch, Irwin and LENOX. This person will lead a team Public Relations experts and oversee day-to-day communications activities including media relations, crisis mitigation, social media community management, influencer management, talent negotiation, and event planning as well as influence Social Media and media partnerships/integrations. In this role, the will build and advance GTS brands' image and reputation and drive engagement and cultivate relationships with media outlets, industry influencers, employees and the broader Stanley Black & Decker organization. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned, communications expert who is comfortable operating in a non-traditional, fast-paced environment with experience managing and overseeing competitive, forward-thinking communication strategies, both analog and digital. This position requires knowledge of the competitive market, customer behaviors, and product marketing, coupled with an unparalleled understanding of the modern communications landscape. The ideal candidate must be comfortable leading a team, developing strategies as well as executing detailed programs. Responsibilities: Develop and execute global communications strategies in coordination with executive leadership and Corporate Communications teams. Establish narratives and storylines that consistently represent and express the value of GTS brands. Develop communications programs and campaigns that drive awareness and brand affinity. Actively partner with cross-functional teams including Brand Marketing, Research and Insights, Industrial Design, Corporate Communications, Corporate Marketing and Customer Service to develop consistent customer experiences. Manage crisis communications in collaboration with Corporate Communications and external partners. Negotiate talent and foster deep relationships with influencers and media. Develop and execute strategic communications including key messaging, talking points, keynotes, bylines, briefing documents, FAQs, positions statements, press releases and other collateral. Media train internal leaders as well as executive team members. Proactively develop external partnerships and support contract negotiations with external partners and/or vendors to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of communication investments. Manage external PR agency to develop and drive strategic communications and PR campaigns. Mentor and further develop a best-in-class communications team. Keep abreast of the latest digital communications and social trends and opportunities. Requirements: BA or BS required. 10+ of communications experience in PR (traditional, digital, social, print media; reputation management; crisis communications). Previous management position within a Communications Agency is a plus. 5+ management experience leading and managing team activities, including managing performance. Established media relationships and demonstrated success securing press coverage, creating and executing PR campaigns and measuring effectiveness. Experience in creating messaging and briefing documents. Strong familiarity with executing best practices in all communications functions including: community management, social listening, influencer management, content syndication, media pitching, event planning and press events. Strong decision-making and ability to reorient teams and drive execution when priorities change. Strong business acumen and client relationship management experience. Passionate, creative problem solver with ability to thrive in a highly energetic, fast-paced environment. Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal. Excellent interpersonal interactions with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams, and third parties. Strong analytical experience in developing communications metrics. Champion of process and culture change. Ability to travel (no more than 15% in any given month).
