Job Description:
Sentara Obici Hospital is seeking an experienced RN BSN to work Flexi / PRN as Patient Care Supervisor.

The Patient Care Supervisor is considered part of nursing leadership (Nursing Administration). They are a coordinator for all things that affect patient care. They respond to all Medical Response Team calls, all codes of any kind — Code blue, Code Silver, etc. For this reason, they need to have a good clinical base. Med/Surg, acute care would be required - critical care and/or emergency care experience would be preferred. They have to be able to critically think and intervene in all kinds of situations from clinical assessment and recommendations, patient/family complaints, physician concerns, staffing issues, injured or impaired employees, calling in OR teams, etc. During nights, week-ends, and holidays - the Patient Care Supervisor is the highest ranking member of administration in the building, so they are essentially in charge of overall operations. They work in an overview position - not attached to any single unit within the hospital, but involved in ALL of them.

Responsible and accountable for administratively managing the hospital as the representative for the administrator on call. Possesses proficient clinical skills and serves as a resource to nursing staff, physicians, and the public. Coordinates and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to facilitate appropriate and efficient patient placement. Makes administrative decisions (in consultation with administrator on call, as needed) in regards to potential or actual problematic situations involving the hospital. May be responsible to coordinate patient care resources.

Education Level
RN-Bachelor's Level Degree

Required: Acute Care - Previous experience, Nursing - 2 years, Nursing Leadership - 1 year

Required: Basic Life Support, Registered Nurse

Required: Communication, Complex Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Service Orientation

BSN required. Must be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to resolve problems in an efficient and caring manner. Demonstrated leadership skills through effective work coordination, management of resources, and participation in goal accomplishment. ACLS required within 1 year of hire.
