We are currently seeking a SCIENTIST experienced in HTS and NGS to work with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. The contractor shall: 1. Serve as team lead to identify, plan and develop/modify the most applicable protocols and experimental methods based on work experience, scientific knowledge, and review of the literature. 2. Independently perform microarray experiments including preparation of RNA and quality control (QC) RNA from tissues or cells, synthesis of fluorescently labeled target cRNA or cDNA, array hybridization and optical scanning of arrays.3. Independently perform clinical sample collection, processing and cryopreservation, sample monitoring, electronic inventory/tracking, and sample distribution. 4. Independently generate libraries for High-Throughput Next Generation Sequencing such as RNA-Seq, immunoSeq for TCR-b. 5. Independently generate all production DNA sequencing templates; prepare growth boxes with media, operate the plasmid DNA purification robot and alternate manual protocol, and perform agarose gel analysis QC of template DNA. 6. Operate and maintain High-Throughput liquid transfer robotics and DNA sequencing instruments. 7. Generate high-quality sequencing libraries, including isolation of highly purified DNA, kinetic shearing, end-pair, adaptor ligation, size-selection of DNA, and sequencing on NGS sequencer. 8. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory experiments and QC procedures. 9. Skillful in the collection, arrangement, and organization of data to prepare tables, charts, graphs, summaries, and other materials for effective presentation of experimental results and for publications. 10. Calibrate and operate a variety of laboratory instruments used to perform tests, analyses and other laboratory procedures. 11. Play a leadership role in the organization and maintenance of laboratory; check current inventory of supplies in the laboratory and select, order appropriate reagents, buffers, specimens, and other required materials. 12. Coordinate with staff to analyze and interpret data and prepare summaries of laboratory findings to be used in reports and papers to be presented at scientific meetings and publication in scientific journals. 13. Train and teach other laboratory staff a range of laboratory procedures and the use of various types of laboratory equipment. REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: 1. Master's degree in Biology or a related discipline.2. Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in a laboratory environment.3. Experience performing High-Throughput Sequencing Next Generation Sequencing and Library Construction.4. Professional knowledge acquired through formal education, training and experiences of the theories and principles of biology.5. Ability to calibrate and operate laboratory instruments sufficient to independently perform recurring tests, analyses and other laboratory procedures.6. Ability to provide summaries, graphs, and other material for use by self/staff for inclusion in reports, scientific presentations and scientific publications.7. Knowledge of guidelines and regulations regarding biohazard constraints and handling of biological material, infectious agents, chemicals and other similar materials.8.
