A background security investigation will be required for all new hires. LAW ENFORCEMENT AGE REQUIREMENT: In accordance with Public Law 100-238, this position is covered under law enforcement retirement provisions; therefore, candidates must be appointed before reaching their 37th birthday unless they presently serve or have previously served in a Federal civilian law enforcement retirement-covered position or are a veteran preference eligible.

Qualifying experience for the Lead Electronic Monitoring Specialist at the GS-11 level includes one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-301-09 level for one year. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position as described above, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled as a Lead Electronic Monitoring Specilaist. Examples of specialized experience include installing and removing electronic monitoring devices used to monitor offenders; performing general maintenance of equipment; and performing processing and support duties for an electronic monitoring program or similar program that required knowledge of the basic principles and concepts of probation and parole. Specialized experience includes work to plan, direct, control, and recommend administrative and human resource management functions for the staff, set guidelines and performance standards, and plan, direct, control, and lead work assignments for the technicians to ensure appropriate coverage and client support.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education, or a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, at an accredited/pre-accredited institution, that demonstrates the competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Education must have included major study in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or course work in one or more of the identified fields that required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.
