Primary Purpose

The Human Resources Generalist will work in our Rockville, MD headquarters and will report to the Employee Relations Manager. Primary responsibilities include assisting the Human Resources department in carrying out human resources policies, programs and procedures for all Emmes staff and supervisors in compliance with applicable state and federal employment laws. This position will also support a positive employee relations (ER) climate through effective communications with employees and management and through the coordination of employee events sponsored by the human resources department.

Responsibilities

    Works closely with ER Manager on employee workplace issues; ensuring employment actions are well documented, per company policy, follow consistent process, and are free of any discrimination Updates internal ER Case report system Develops and write Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) relating to HR Updates Company Handbook Administers performance reviews to include manager and employee notifications and tracking of forms Conducts new employee orientation Assists HR Manager in handling immigration matter (i.e., H1B/PERM) Supports Compensation Manager during focal review and bonus activities Reviews/Updates company job descriptions Assists HR team in planning staff events Responds to general inquiries from staff regarding workplace policies and procedures Participates in employee training sessions covering workplace policies and procedures Will be a member of the implementation team for HR Software tools (SAP) Provides HR support once a week in our Tysons, VA office
Experience

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent computer skills in a MS Windows environment
  • Experience with immigration matters is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree; PHR/SHRM-CP preferred
  • 3 years ‘experience as a Human Resources Generalist
  • Knowledge of employment laws
  • Experience supporting employee relations investigations in a non-union environment
  • Excellent problem resolution and customer service skills
  • Strong organization time management and attention to detail skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with ADP is a plus
