You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 level in the Federal service or comparable pay band system related to the work of this position. This specialized experience is defined as assisting in a management of the safety programs which include all aspects of safety in a museum, warechouse, craft shop, office environment, and the grounds surrounding all museums and storage buildings of the organizaiton; and insuring that a safe environment is maintained for all staff; evaluating thru on-site inspections the level of safety at the various locations.
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
LL.M., if related
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.
OR a combination of experience and education:
Education and experience may be combined to meet the basic qualifications.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
Your application will be evaluated first for the basic qualifications described above. The applications that meet the basic qualifications will be evaluated further against the following criteria:
- Knowledge of occupational safety techniques, concepts, principles, laws and regulations in identify and evaluate safety and occupational hazards with a museum setting.
- Ability to identify, evaluate and, resolve safety problems in regards to construction design, process, operation, human error or other factors which may cause occupational, environmental or safety hazards.
- Knowledge of requirements for conducting Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) inspections as they relate to establishing safety training curricula; and developing safety policies.
- Knowledge of computers and software applications to develop and evaluate information regarding occupational safety and health programs and produce reports and graphs.
Best Qualified Category - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and excels in most of the job related competencies above.
Qualified - Meets the minimum qualification requirements, but does not satisfy most of the job related competencies above to a substantive degree.
