This Senior Chemist will report to a Senior Principal Scientist. RESPONSIBILITIESWork closely with Flavorists to identify needs and opportunities for natural flavors and extractsPro-actively develop flavor solutions that are market preferred leveraging input from bench top product development, culinary testing, technical innovation, and consumer trend analysisAnticipate, investigate and resolve problems related to raw materials, flavor systems, finished prototypes and initial scale-up proceduresBuild successful and cooperative relationships with other technical counterparts and leverage company technical resources in support of global technology implementationCollect and analyze data from experiments and concepts to prepare summary reports and recommendations for the leadership teamProvide input to advance strategic category initiatives REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSMS degree and/or PhD in Food Science, Chemistry, Food Engineering, or closely related discipline Minimum 10 years (with MS degree) OR Minimum 6 years (with PhD) of R&D experience in food, food ingredient, and/or natural product industrySignificant experience in the natural products industry gaining a solid understanding of how and where natural flavor ingredients are sourcedSignificant hands-on experience with laboratory and/or pilot plant equipmentExperience with process scale-up from pilot to commercial scale manufacturingStrong Chemistry and Mathematics skillsStrong background in analytical methods and sensory scienceExperience managing large, complex projectsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to collaborate effectively across functions and levelsExcellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbalAbility to work safely and follow Good Manufacturing PracticesAbility to periodically lift up to 30 pounds PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPhD in Food Science, Food Chemistry, or a Natural Products Chemistry fieldStrong background working with flavor raw materialsDemonstrated product and process development experienceExperience realizing formulas, making dilutions, and modifying usage ratesMcCormick & Company is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
