Baltimore based National Corporation seeking Labor & Employment Attorney Responsibilities: Provide labor and employment-related legal advice and counsel to the Company's human resource professionals, senior management, and local & district-level managers throughout the Company. This responsibility is national in scope and includes, but is not limited to, legal research, giving oral and/or written legal advice, and analyzing risk. Support and participate in HR/Compliance investigations where there is a high risk of litigation. Advise & analyze risk and provide direct advice and counsel to operations management on employment law matters, including hiring, termination, discipline, accommodations, leave, wage & hour compliance, etc. Effectively manage agency charges relating to employment matters (EEOC, DOL, state human rights agencies) and prepare responses to such charges providing relevant information and documentation to defend the Company's position against claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliatory discharge and/or alleged wage and hour violations, as needed. Identify and develop appropriate compliance and regulatory strategies and policies to ensure company-wide compliance with applicable federal, state and local employment laws, (eg wage and hour compliance, ADA, ADEA, EEO, leave, etc.) Analyze & advise on legislation affecting employment and labor issues for the Company. Advise & support operations managers in a timely and useful manner in response to specific needs & inquiries. Prepare and deliver training on employment and labor issues to senior and operations-level management on a variety of topics in a timely and useful manner in response to specific legal needs and inquiries. Supervise outside counsel for litigation matters, including overseeing trials, reviewing briefs and other pleadings & memoranda, and provide case resolution recommendations to the General Counsel. Evaluate, develop, and provide guidance on employee handbook policies and related policies and procedures. Provide real-time and ongoing assistance to operations personnel with regard to legal issues. Required Qualifications:* J. D. from an ABA accredited law school and membership in good standing to the bar in at least one state.* At least 3-5 years of traditional employment law experience in a large or mid-sized law firm, corporate setting, or a combination of law firm and in-house experience.* Strong knowledge of core laws, regulations, and issues relative to labor & employment law, EEO laws, human resource compliance, etc., with specific knowledge of California and Canada jurisdictions a plus. * Strong background in legal research and writing.* Excellent verbal and written, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills and ability to manage and respond to multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
