Sentara CarePlex is hiring a Registered Nurse Full time Day shift for the
Bed Management Unit!

Department/Position Overview:

  • The Bed Management/Admission & Discharge Department functions as the hub for patient throughput and Capacity Management at the hospital. Our Admit and Discharge nurses facilitate the admission process to provide high quality patient care during the transition period from the Emergency Department to the assigned inpatient Med/Surg or Intermediate Care Unit. This team is also responsible for opening the Admit and/or Overflow Unit for Med/Surg and/or Intermediate Care level patients if the need arises.

  • The Registered Nurse collaborates with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care.

  • These experienced nurses are self-driven and work closely with the Patient Care Supervisor. Additionally, they offer support and mentor novice nurses.
  • RNs with IMCU or ICU experience needed.

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

New Hire Education Requirement: All new RN's who do not have their BSN will be required to sign a BSN Agreement committing to obtain their BSN within 5 years of hire. BSN or MSN preferred. All Direct Care RN's required to have BLS within 90 days of hire.
