Mid-Level Proposal Writer
LMI is seeking a self-motivated individual to serve as a proposal writer in our Corporate Proposal Center. Reporting to the Director of the proposal center, the proposal writer will work with LMI subject matter experts (SMEs) and proposal center staff to rapidly generate task order responses.LMI is a not-for-profit government consulting firm headquartered in Tysons, Virginia. LMI's Corporate Proposal Center is chartered with developing winning proposal responses to government-issued solicitations. LMI's growth depends in part on our ability to respond rapidly to task order requests for proposals. Responsibilities The candidate will assume the lead role in the response to select task orders identified by LMI's Business Development team. The proposal writer will create compliant outlines and, with input and support from SMEs, author winning responses, typically within tight timeframes.Proposal center staff (including proposal writers) typically work regular business hours, but proposal development occasionally requires evening and/or weekend work in order to meet proposal deadlines. Qualifications 5 - 10 years of professional experience working in government contracting, with a very significant portion of that experience writing and contributing to proposals, white papers, and/or pre-proposal responses is required.A Bachelor's degree is required. A college major in a writing-related field such as English, Journalism, Communications, or Marketing is preferred.Strong writing and editing skills are required, with the ability to write persuasively and very quickly. A high level of proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required.Candidates must be analytical thinkers who are able to quickly read and clearly summarize large amounts of complex information. Candidates must also be detail-oriented because they are responsible for ensuring that task order responses are fully compliant with the associated solicitation.Candidates must be focused, efficient, and able to multi-task effectively because the proposal writer will often be working on multiple proposals and tasks simultaneously. Candidates must be able to prioritize their activities to meet deadlines.Candidates must also be able to work with a variety of professionals in time- and resource-constrained environments.Because LMI serves the federal government and many of our clients are within the Department of Defense, professional experience within the federal government and/or the military branches is a plus. Experience in any of LMI's primary offerings (logistics, data analytics, digital services, and management advisory services, including health management) is a plus.
