Assistant Manager, Correspondent Lending Summary PenFed is hiring a Assistant Manager, Correspondent Lending in Alexandria, Virginia. The primary purpose of this job is to monitor the daily activities of the Correspondent Lending section of the Mortgage Department, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of section responsibilities within established guidelines. The incumbent provides supervisory oversight and support of these defined areas within mortgage operations. He or she is responsible for maintaining relationships with all Correspondent Lenders while maintaining PenFed's best interest and complying with all policies and procedures. The incumbent provides supervisory oversight and support of these defined areas within the Correspondent Lending Department in several PenFed locations. Provide oversite to Supervisor, Correspondent Lending and review individual scorecards completed for team. Oversees the daily work of the staff providing guidance on complex issues while monitoring work for accuracy and completeness. Monitors loans in process to determine any deviation from standard processing time and to take appropriate actions including notifying the manager for alternatives to ensure correspondent lenders receive timely service. Responsible for monitoring and shifting resources as needed and reporting trends on work flow to Manager, Correspondent Lending. Monitor funding reports as required and review and approve loan wire request. Serves as the next escalation point for member issues that staff/Supervisors are unable to resolve. May consult with Manager on exceptions to normal policies and procedures before making decisions. Provides training to staff on new PenFed products and changes to existing products and or policies. Responsible for hiring staff and managing performance including coaching and initiating disciplinary action. Recommend and implements new ideas and ensures thorough research and involvement from all appropriate areas of the credit union. Remains current on all mortgage related regulations and changes and makes sure staff is informed. Develops and/or suggests methods and other techniques which will improve sales effectiveness. Assists in maintaining PenFed's compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances by abiding by PenFed compliance programs and all policies and procedures. Ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements and demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics. Maintains a working knowledge of all mortgage products available through competitive organizations to accurately respond to correspondent questions. Working knowledge of Conventional lending policies and procedures and correspondent relationships. Education and Experience Equivalent combination of education and experience is considered. Baccalaureate degree or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions. Five (5) to seven (7) years related work experience, preferably in mortgage lending Experience managing mortgage operations that involved customer interaction Strong verbal and written communications skills required. Attention to detail required. Experience in utilizing automated loan servicing systems or aptitude to learn systems, required. Skills/Abilities Must be able to work multiple projects concurrently and shift priorities as required to meet business requirements and deadlines. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Ability to work under aggressive deadlines and may be subject to extreme workloads. Solid understanding of loan flow from loan application to investor purchase. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and work as a team player. Must exercise discretion and sound judgement, and be able to work well independently. Supervisory Responsibility This position will supervise employees. Licenses and Certifications There are no additional certifications required. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly regularly exposed to an indoor office setting with moderate noise. Travel Ability to travel to various worksites and be on-call may be required.
