    Applicants must meet one of the basic requirements:

    Basic Requirement for Environmental Engineer, GS-0819-15: applicants must have a degree in professional engineering from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum or include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics or college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

    Basic Requirement for Agricultural Engineer, GS-0890-15:applicants must have a degree in professional engineering from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology as a professional engineering curriculum or include differential and integral calculus and courses in 5 of the following 7 areas of engineering science or physics:(a)statics, dynamics;(b)strength of materials (c)fluid mechanics, hydraulics;(d) thermodynamics;(e) electrical fields and circuits;(f) nature and properties of materials; and (g)any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics or college-level education, training, and/or technical experience.

    Basic Requirement for Chemical Engineer, GS-0893-15:applicants must have a degree in professional engineering from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology as a professional engineering curriculum or include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a)statics, dynamics;(b) strength of materials; (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials; and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, or college-level education, training, and/or technical experience.

    In addition to one of the basic requirements above, applicants must possess the following:

    SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

    GS-15:  Qualifying experience for the GS-15 includes one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes conducting research in the area of Engineering that resulted in peer reviewed journal articles, patents, and/or new technologies and providing senior level technical leadership in the design and application of systems that span engineering design and technology, as well as the data collection, manipulation, analysis and use in decision support, including Big Data applications.

    Career Transition Assistance Plan(CTAP) or Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP): If you are claiming CTAP/ICTAP eligibility, provide proof of eligibility to include your most recent performance appraisal, SF-50, and proof of eligibility such as a RIF separation notice or letter from OPM/your agency. CTAP/ICTAP eligibles will be considered well-qualified if achieving a rating of 85 or above.
