Land Development Services (LDS) serves as the gateway to much of the county's economic development and is the steward of the county's land development and building construction codes and regulations. Several key initiatives are underway to modernize LDS' information technology (IT) systems. These initiatives, combined with forward-thinking staff, present an excellent opportunity to contribute to LDS' continued success. LDS is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic IT professional to lead its IT program and oversee a branch of fifteen professionals supporting multiple systems.

The successful candidate will:
  • Guide department leadership and staff in researching and implementing new and emerging technology;
  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of IT systems of varying complexity;
  • Champion opportunities to improve existing information systems with innovative solutions;
  • Lead the development and execution of short- and long-range strategic technology plans;
  • Oversee IT support operations, including support during emergency response events;
  • Identify staffing and financial resources necessary to implement new IT initiatives and support ongoing business needs;
  • Interpret county policy and advise department management on related IT activities;
  • Team with county staff, external vendors, and industry groups to build collaborative partnerships;
  • Foster a team environment to accomplish strategic goals and to promote the Department's mission, vision, and values.
Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to possession of a bachelor's degree in computer science, or closely related field; plus six years' experience in systems design, development, and maintenance in a large information systems environment, including considerable supervisory experience.
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background and credit check to the satisfaction of the employer.

Experience managing and directly supervising a group of IT professionals. Experience managing information technology projects of varying complexity serving the needs of a diverse customer base. Experience developing and executing strategic information technology plans. Proficiency at communicating technical information to senior and executive level staff in formal and informal settings.

Job is generally sedentary. Ability to use keyboard-driven equipment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
