Program Coordinator, Legal Network for Gender Equity
The National Women’s Law Center seeks a Program Coordinator for its Legal Network for Gender Equity and the newly instituted TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund. The Center’s Legal Network for Gender Equity connects individuals experiencing sex discrimination in the workplace, education, and healthcare with attorneys willing to take on these types of cases. The TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund, housed at and administered by the National Women’s Law Center Fund LLC, connects those who experience sexual misconduct in the workplace or in trying to advance their careers (including assault, harassment, and related retaliation) with legal and communications assistance, using the infrastructure of the Legal Network. The Fund also provides financial support to defray the costs of legal representation and/or communications assistance in select cases.
The Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring the success of the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund, a high-profile, multi-million dollar endeavor that seeks to leverage legal assistance for those challenging workplace sexual harassment and related retaliation in a program first-of-its-kind in scale. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy building and managing both the systems and relationships that are necessary for the Legal Network and the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund to thrive, building connections with attorneys, law firms, public relations professionals, and people seeking legal help. The Coordinator should be passionate about implementing and refining effective, trauma-informed processes to connect those who experience sex discrimination with legal help.
Reporting to the Director of the TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund, the Coordinator will organize, train, and review the work of approximately 30 pro bono attorney volunteers conducting intake. The position is for a term of three years, with a possibility of extension dependent on the continued availability of funding. This is an exempt position.

• Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Legal Network intake process, including overseeing and executing processes for reviewing and responding to a high volume of intakes; flagging intakes for potential representation by NWLC or priority matters for TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund financial support; and connecting intakes with impact litigation potential to legal representation.
• Manage the Legal Network’s existing pro bono intake volunteers, including training and monitoring volunteer attorneys’ review and response to intakes; creating of intake volunteer training materials; onboarding volunteers; and troubleshooting intake problems.
• Maintain and sustain ongoing pro bono relationships with law firms supporting the work of the Legal Network and TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund.
• Maintain and improve NWLC’s database for tracking and organizing intake.
• Identify trends, compelling stories, and opportunities for advocacy by reviewing intakes within the database.
• Coordinate regular communications with attorneys participating in the Legal Network, respond to questions from Legal Network attorneys, and undertake outreach efforts to expand attorney participation in the Legal Network.
• Implement an outreach strategy to ensure that all communities are able to access the Legal Network and the Fund.
• In coordination with Communications team, develop and periodically update external materials describing the Legal Network and TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund, including webpages, graphics, and form emails.
• Periodically evaluate and refine Legal Network and TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund intake and tracking process.
• Work closely with external public relations firm to identify and assist intakes who need communications support.
• Assist in reviewing of applications for TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund financial support.
Experience and Qualifications
The candidate must have:
• A college degree or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of two years of relevant work experience, preferably in a legal and/or in a workplace justice advocacy setting.
• A demonstrated commitment to the work of the Center.
• Demonstrated ability to create, implement, and manage complex systems and processes.
• Strong computer skills, including database management skills.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Genuine passion for and deep understanding of the mission of the National Women’s Law Center and women’s rights, specifically including workplace justice issues.
• Experience working with survivors of sexual harassment or sexual violence or otherwise providing direct assistance to individuals in crisis.
• Outstanding time management and organizational skills, with careful attention to detail, and a demonstrated ability to manage multi-faceted projects and perform independently while demonstrating grace under pressure in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment;
• Experience onboarding, expanding, and managing volunteers.
• Previous experience with LegalServer or similar legal databases.
• Collaborative and collegial approach, and an ability and desire to work in a team-based environment.
Compensation will be both competitive and commensurate with the successful candidate’s background and experience.
