Position Summary: Looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to act as a mentor, teacher, and support to individuals with intellectual and other types of developmental disabilities to assist them to live, learn and work successfully as an active part of their communities. The residential counselor, who acts as the QIDP, is able to provide direct hands-on service and develops and maintains a therapeutic environment in which Individual Service Plans are created and carried out. All supports are designed to meet the needs of this unique and specialized population using evidence based practices. The residential counselor should be the model representation of best practices in working with individuals with disabilities and is able to act as a coach to direct support professionals regarding how to meet person-centered desires and needs, achieving dreams and goals to maximize individual potential. The residential counselor will assume leadership responsibilities when the program manager is not present and/or as delegated. Job Qualifications: Applicants must be of unquestionable character as determined by personal references and background checks. Applicants must supply sufficient recommendations to support the fact that maturity, integrity and dependability are hallmarks of his/her personality. Applicant is able to project a professional image while interfacing with families and the community-at-large Applicant demonstrates ability to work independently as well as part of a team Can effectively express oneself in written reports, including electronic reporting of documentation Capable of working responsibly with highly confidential information Must be able to provide hands-on care, climb, bend, stoop, push, lift, pull, reach, sit and walk for periods of time Attends and engages in mandatory and other agency training opportunities Must be able to implement proper support techniques when intervening with individuals in crisis and non-crisis situations Experience with assessing individual strengths and needs and developing and implementing individual service plan outcomes a plus Available Locations & Schedules: Alexandria, VA Sun-Wed, Mon-Wed, 12pm-10pm & Sunday, 9am-7pm Wed-Sat, Wed-Friday,12pm-10pm & Saturday, 9am-7pm(40 hours/week) Vienna, VA Sat-Sun, 6am-2pm (32 hours/week) Wed-Sat, Wed-Fri, 1pm-11pm & Saturday, 8am-6pm *CR offers company-paid benefits including health insurance options, 403(b) retirement fund with employer contribution/matching and life insurance for all eligible employees!
