    In addition to the education requirement, applicants must have 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower band or level equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal Service, or comparable private/public sector experience which has equipped the applicant with the skills and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as demonstrated experience providing expert consultation on a variety of scientific / engineering disciplines to internal and external customers; and practical experience in executing, evaluating, assessing, or auditing government, private sector, or non-profit scientific or technological programs.

    General Engineer Series 0801

    A. Bachelor’s degree in engineering. To be acceptable, the school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET.

    B. Combination of education and experience. The adequacy of such education/experience must be demonstrated by one of the following:

    1. Professional registration or licensure.
    2. Written test.
    3. Specified academic courses.
    4. Related curriculum.

    Physical Scientist - Series 1301

    A. Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics.

    B. Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

    This is a bargaining unit position.

    • Skill in selecting, organizing, and presenting appropriate information in a concise and balanced manner and to communicate such information to target audiences.
    • Ability to conduct research and develop reliable evidence to support report findings and recommendations.
    • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing to prepare reports, participate in interviews and meetings, and to make presentations.
