The American Enterprise Institute seeks a creative, entrepreneurial, hardworking development professional to help build and cultivate AEI’s foundation donor community. With your help, we will enhance AEI’s relationships with charitable foundations across the country and empower AEI scholars to tackle our nation’s public policy challenges.

The ideal candidate will excel in an intellectual, detail-oriented, and fast-paced environment. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing AEI’s donor database, preparing research and strategy memos for donors and prospective donors, coordinating quarterly grant solicitations, processing donation paperwork, assisting in grants management, and drafting strategic communications to market our scholarly products to members of AEI’s community. These responsibilities require a self-starter with exceptionally strong writing and communication skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines, multitask, and prioritize.

A bachelor’s degree is required. Strong familiarity with and experience working in fundraising or a not-for-profit environment is preferred. Experience with a contact-management database such as Salesforce is a plus.

Qualified candidates should submit an online application to www.aei.org/jobs, complete with a cover letter, a resume, transcripts, and a 500-word writing sample.

About AEI

The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) is a public policy think tank dedicated to defending human dignity, expanding human potential, and building a freer and safer world.  The work of its scholars and staff advances ideas rooted in a belief in democracy, free enterprise, American strength and global leadership, solidarity with those at the periphery of our society, and a pluralistic, entrepreneurial culture.

AEI is committed to making the intellectual, moral, and practical case for expanding freedom, increasing individual opportunity, and strengthening the free enterprise system in America and around the world.  Its work explores ideas that further these goals, and AEI scholars take part in this pursuit with academic freedom.  AEI operates independently of any political party and has no institutional positions.  Its scholars’ conclusions are fueled by rigorous, data-driven research and broad-ranging evidence.
