Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director of the Lourie Center School, the SLP provides speech and language evaluations and treatment to assigned classroom students and serves as a clinical supervisor for other less experienced speech/language pathologist in the program.
Master's degree in communication disorders with extensive knowledge of speech/language communication disorders in children, appropriate assessments and effective treatment approaches.
The clinician must also understand the ways in which speech and language delays impact on social/emotional and cognitive areas and how to treat children with serious emotional disorders.
Md. State licensure is required.
Must maintain current CCC membership with American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
Requires a minimum of five years of experience in treating young children post CCC.
Makes independent clinical decisions regarding assessment and treatment.
Seeks input from the schools interdisciplinary team when treatment is not progressing as expected or when encountering an unusually complex case.
Actively participates in interdisciplinary meetings, sharing the speech/language communication perspective and collaborating with other professionals in considering the ways in which findings of other disciplines relate to the speech and language diagnosis and treatment.
The therapist must have skills in oral and written presentation of diagnostic findings, progress updates and treatment plans.
The ability to identify parent concerns and address their needs in the therapeutic process is essential.
Independent nature of the position requires excellent time management skills.
Advances own knowledge in the field through courses and independent study and then shares knowledge with colleagues.
In addition, this individual has supervisory skills and experience in training other speech and language pathologists.

This is a 36 hour/week position Monday - Friday.
