Exempt, Regular, 100% Full Time, Pay Grade 1.2

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks a Buyer I. Reporting to the Assistant Director, the Buyer I will have the following duties.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Evaluating bid and proposal responses to ensure compliance with solicitation requirements;

Reviewing and processing purchase and change order requisitions submitted by departments, resolving requisition issues that may impact timely PO processing for assigned departments, and assisting vendors and departments with PO inquiries;

Researching public purchase schedules for procurement of goods and services;

Conducting research on underlying contracts for UMUC purchases, including price validation and reconciliation with contract terms and conditions when processing purchase orders;

Drafting contract amendments as may be needed for renewals, changes in scopes of work, etc.;

Other duties, as assigned under the direction of Management.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning and two (2) years of related experience is required. Analytical skills in researching contract terms and conditions and experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel are also required. The ability to multi-task and problem solve is necessary along with effective written and verbal skills. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills as well as be professional, innovative and detailed.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:    

Candidates should have an understanding of public procurement policies and regulations.  Experience using Workday Financial Management system is a plus.
