BRIEF POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Higher Horizons Early Head Start Program in the Bailey's Crossroads area of Falls Church, VA is seeking an experienced Infant/Toddler (Lead) Teacher to implement an established curriculum, develop lesson plans and conduct child observations and periodic home visits.  The Lead Infant/Toddler Teacher will maintain a warm, inviting learning environment for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years old, incorporating age appropriate activities to meet individual needs, VA Child Care Licensing Regulations and Head Start Program Performance Standards.  The Lead Teacher will work closely with a Co-Lead Teacher and in conjunction with other staff to facilitate the learning process for infants and toddlers in their care.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS in Early Childhood Education, Infant-Child Development or closely related field
  • Valid Infant/Toddler CDA preferred
  • At least 2 years of successful experience working in an infant/toddler classroom setting
  • Experience in Creative Curriculum, CLASS and/or Teaching Strategies GOLD
  • Must have computer skills for email, entry of child assessment and notes and other data
  • Must be able to communicate in English in both written and verbal forms (bilingual Spanish is preferred but not required)
  • FBI Fingerprints, Criminal History and State Child Abuse Background Checks will be conducted
  • Two professional written references
  • Prior Early Head Start experience is preferred

SALARY & BENEFITS:

  • $34,840 - $36,275 (dependent upon related education and experience)
