Description: TITLE: Systems Administrator III JobDescription LOCATION: Suitland, MD We are seeking a Systems Administrator in Suitland, MD to support the critical national weather GOES-R satellite program. JOB DESCRIPTION: * Responsible for troubleshooting, deploying, supporting, and diagnosing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 5.x and 6.x) issues within development, test, and production environments * Builds, configures, troubleshoots, and integrates new and existing servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux to provide service enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure upgrades * Responsible for administering and troubleshooting Red Hat Satellite Server * Responsible for administering and troubleshooting Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager * Responsible for administering and troubleshooting Oracle Unified Directory * Responsible for working with various teams to troubleshoot complex Red Hat Enterprise Linux issues * Conducts system analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies and security requirements * Work location is on site at NOAA's Satellite Operation Facility at Suitland, MD * Travel requirements up to 25% between Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Melbourne, Florida REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: * Successful candidates must have a Bachelors degree and 4+ years experience, or a commensurate combination of education, training, and experience * Knowledge/support for customized kernels and customized RPM packages * Ability to successfully troubleshoot and administer Red Hat Satellite Server and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager Version 3.1 * Hands-on experience with GPFS, NFS, SAN/network protocols, DNS BIND 9 views administration, Static DHCP administration, security hardening (STIG guidelines), firmware, software and O/S upgrades * Perform complex RHEL system troubleshooting and problem resolution of web hosting configuration components, and database servers * Integrating and troubleshooting Oracle database connectivity * Integrating and troubleshooting security scanning software * Familiar with scripting and automation using bash, Perl, Python, and other common Linux utilities * Familiar with performance tuning of Linux operating system and IBM server components * Familiar with IBM General Parallel File System (GFPS) concepts and performance tuning * Previous experience supporting Government and/or Department of Commerce customers SECURITY CLEARANCE: This position requires the candidate to obtain and maintain a Public Trust/High Risk security clearance.
