Description: We are seeking a SystemsEngineer to join our team in Greenbelt, MD to support the Space Communication Network Services (SCNS) Contract supporting NASA. In this role, you will provide engineering, operations, and maintenance efforts to NASA's Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) systems located worldwide. JOB DESCRIPTION: The successful candidate will be responsible for the following: Providing engineering support for the integration, operations, maintenance, and problem resolution of NASA's VLBI antennas and associated equipment including microwave receivers, broadband acquisition systems, cryogenic systems, and low noise amplifiers (LNA) Supporting VLBI antennas technical baseline development and configuration management process implementation Providing the human interface between systems engineering support for sustainment, operations, and maintenance. Tracking problems reports from occurrence to closure Leading lifecycle management efforts Performing trade study assessments and developing recommendations related to VLBI system upgrades and enhancements Developing and reviewing deliverables including weekly/monthly technical status reports, and operations and maintenance procedures Providing technical advice to customer personnel regarding design issues Supporting the generation of task plans and cost proposals Developing test approaches, and providing support to VLBI system tests and test result assessments Interfacing with the customers regarding technical and schedule performance, requirements, and processes Interfacing with vendors and developers regarding upgrades and problems resolutions REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field is required. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience, (a Master's degree in a technical or business field may substitute for 3 years of experience). Needs to be a team player that can take high level direction and work independently, as well as work closely with peers. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Possess a sound understanding of the principles of configuration management, how the development organization initiates configuration control, and how to maintain configuration management. Ability to multi-task Detailed Oriented Strong written and oral communication skills SECURITY CLEARANCE: This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a secret security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance candidate must be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
