PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The primary purpose of the Derivatives Analyst, Derivatives Middle Office position is to work with Investment Operations staff to provide oversight and operational support of derivatives and other complex instruments. The incumbent will work directly with and report to the Head of Derivatives Strategic Operations (HDSO), primarily assisting the HDSO in improving and enhancing derivatives operational support within Investment Operations. Secondarily, the incumbent's responsibilities will include acting as a primary point of escalation and performing oversight activities on derivatives related operational processing. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES * Execute on oversight activities surrounding derivatives operational processes. Oversight activities include independently researching escalated issues from external service providers and internal partners, such as trading, legal, accounting, client operations, and technology, coordinating an appropriate response, and proactively monitoring operational processes. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for the development, monitoring, and reporting of KPIs and metrics related to operational support of derivatives. * Research and develop processes to support new derivative and complex instruments. This includes the responsibility for facilitation of the process to ensure business partner support, research and documentation of the new derivative investment, and encompasses ensuring appropriate valuation, security setup, corporate actions handling, trade communication, confirmation and settlement support for the new derivative instrument. Review and develop the operational procedures to support new derivative instruments. * Review and assess derivatives operational infrastructure, processes, and controls. Develop recommendations, process improvements, and policy & procedures related to operational processes spanning valuation, setup, corporate actions, trade communication, confirmation, and settlements. Provide analysis and business requirements to service provider partners and internal technology groups to support required solutions development. * Build and provide Derivatives expertise, act as a resource to develop broader knowledge within Investment Operations around derivatives processes and instruments. Develop product documentation and job aids in support of derivatives operational processes. Interact with front office personnel and services providers to resolve escalated issues. * Represent the team as a SME in and potentially lead work stream meetings to support various initiatives. QUALIFICATIONS Required * College degree and 2years of related work experience, or * Associate degree and 4years related work experience, or * High School diploma/equivalent and 6 years related work experience * Deep knowledge of various derivative instruments * 2+ years of direct derivatives related experience * Excellent communication skills, judgment, and the ability to interact with all levels within the organization and external service providers * Superior analytic and problem-solving abilities * Excellent systems and business knowledge * Strong organization skills * Ability to work collaboratively with others in team environment Preferred * Master's degree with 4 years of related work experience * Ability to build strong controls and processes to mitigate risk * Excellent project management skills * Skilled in the use of Visio or other process or flow chart tool * Skilled in the use of Excel T.
