The Urban Institute Summer Internship is a paid 10-week program designed to provide students who are interested in research, public policy issues and organizational operations with rewarding and substantive work assignments that are valuable to Urban's mission. How you'll contribute: The Office of Human Resources has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Intern to support the Talent Acquisition and Talent Development functions. This position is ideal for students looking to build critical skills in HR coordination and learn more about recruitment strategy, and training development planning and processes. Responsibilities include: Talent Acquisition & Planning * Conduct research to support diversity and inclusion strategy * Assist with the development and roll out of our "Candidate Experience" initiative * Support the Urban employer brand project: research best practices, conduct competitor research and assist with focus groups * Assist in coordination of intern program planning and activities * Partner with HR Assistant on Alumni Recruitment outreach * Other projects and duties as assigned Talent Development * Assist with the design, development, and delivery of training solutions * Serve as administrative support related to training logistics and administration to include the onboarding and mentoring program * Support development of mentoring program newsletter * Assist with improving Urban's performance management architecture, specifically promotion criteria, performance appraisals, and professional development * Work within LMS Moodle system to: * Complete historical data upload from excel spreadsheets into Moodle environment * Develop LMS administration and maintenance instructions and guidelines for training team * Other projects and duties as assigned What you'll bring: * Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field * Academic or work experience related to Human Resources * Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously * Excellent organizational and planning skills * Self-motivation, and adaptability to a dynamic environment * Ablility to collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members * Strong analytical and communication skills * Attention to detail and willingness to roll-up sleeves to get the job done * Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook) What you'll experience: * Participate in our New Intern "Welcome" Orientation * Network with Researchers, Senior Professionals and others who will support your professional growth and career interests * Participate in intern specific workshops and networking events designed to advance your professional development and build your soft skills * Engage in team building activities that forge new friendships with other Urban Interns * Receive informal feedback and mentoring from your intern manager * Present the value of your contribution and what you learned during our End of Summer Lightning Talks Intern Program Dates: May 21st - July 27th 2018 The Urban Institute is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity without regard for race, ethnicity, gender, protected veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other protected status under applicable law.
