SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: This full-time position is responsible for leading the design, testing, and development of electrical systems and components for underwater remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), search systems, topside support systems, and other equipment involved with the offshore industry. This position works under the technical supervision and guidance of the Electrical Engineering Manager. This is primarily an office-based position but some offshore travel is required for testing and supporting offshore equipment. This position is located in Largo, MD. CLASSIFICATION: Exempt (salary) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Leads teams in the design, development, and troubleshooting of electronic systems and components for marine and underwater equipment * Oversees and is responsible for the integration of sensors and instruments to underwater equipment * Directs the development and testing of commercial systems, products and prototype designs * Responsible for technical documentation packages to support new designs or modifications * Directs the upgrades legacy electrical hardware to current performance standards * Leads in a team environment providing technical direction on multiple projects including to other types of engineers * Directs work on electronic and electrical equipment of all types * Interfaces with ROV managers, crews, and technicians to address technical issues * Makes technical decisions for projects * Travels occasionally including some offshore time * May be contacted for emergency offshore technical support at any time JOB REQUIREMENTS: * BS in Electrical Engineering, MSEE preferred * Minimum 10 years of applicable electrical engineering design experience * Extensive knowledge and experience of all the following and expert knowledge of most: * High voltage, power transfer, and power distribution * Signal processing methods both analogue and digital * A variety of microprocessor / microcontroller systems * Data transmission protocols and methods * C / C++ or other high level programming language * Expert with ORCAD or other PCB / schematic design software * Expert at reviewing new designs including schematics and PCB layouts * Experienced leading assembly and prototyping including surface mount soldering * Experience in the marine industry, with robotics systems, or related technology * Ability to obtain a US Government Secret Clearance desirable * Preferred willing and physically able to travel to all Phoenix facilities and to field operations, inland and offshore, including climbing ladders, personnel transfer at-sea, and carrying/lifting 40 lbs.
