  • If filled as an Environmental Engineer (0819), a Professional Engineer license is required.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Facilities Engineer Level III. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

    SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR (SPF) FOR FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER (0819) SERIES: If you are applying as an Environmental Engineer (0819), you must be currently registered as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico or Guam. It is highly recommended that you provide a copy of your current registration with your application.

    BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR PHYSICAL SCIENTIST (1301 SERIES): A full 4-year course of study from an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree in physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. OR A combination of education and experience equivalent to one of the majors shown above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.     In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Perform environmental compliance program management in one or more of several environmental compliance programs; 2) Lead implementation of environmental program strategies to improve performance; 3) Coordinate with higher headquarters to ensure programs meet their expectations and overall Navy environmental goals; 4) Develop instructions, guidelines and procedures for environmental programs to ensure environmental compliance; 5) Provide environmental technical oversight of NAVFAC Echelon III and IV environmental functions and 6) Conduct environmental process improvement activities of groups to standardize and formalize business processes.
