Basic Entry Requirements for All Grade Levels:
A. Degree: You must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to the completion of a bachelor's degree. Studies must have included at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, 12 of which must be in mathematics and 6 of which must be in statistics.
B. Combination of education and experience -- at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
In addition to the above requirements, you must also meet the following:
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes designing, planning and implementing production, research and evaluation projects for survey and/or census activities using mathematical statistical theory and statistical methodology; implementing various statistical methods such as disclosure avoidance, data editing, nonresponse reweighting and imputation procedures; demonstrated facility with statistical computing software and routines to implement statistical methodology; and assigning and reviewing work and resolving issues.
Education: cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid expeience, including volunteer work done through NationalService programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spirtual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The scored occupational questionnaire will evaluate you on the following competencies; please do not provide a separate written response:
- Knowledge of the methods, procedures, and specifications required to plan and coordinate large-scale projects.
- Knowledge of statistics and survey methodology in areas such as experimental design, questionnaire design and pretesting, web data collection, and data analysis.
- Knowledge of various survey and statistical methods such as those used for survey design consideration and methods to analysze complex survey data.
- Ability to articulate complex concepts in a succinct fashion and present results effectively to audiences.
- Ability to lead and manage the development and implementation of survey and statistical methodology for production, reserach, and evaluation programs.
