Water and Wastewater Engineering and Sciences Washington, DC As needed in Metro Washington, DC area Applications Accepted by: FAX or E-Mail: 202-478-2050 or firstname.lastname@example.org Subject Line: Dir WWW Eng-Sci Position Summary: responsible for: providing leadership and management of and technical direction to the water and wastewater engineering and sciences team; leading the team to perform planning and feasibility studies, design and preparation of engineering plans and specifications, cost estimates, operations and management programs, value engineering, construction management and project closeout; vertical and horizontal asset management; and energy management services. Also responsible for training and mentoring staff; being active in strategic planning initiatives; marketing and business planning, development and execution; proposal preparation; client outreach; and active participation in professional organizations. Duties & Responsibilities: Develop strong relationships with clients. Work independently, but collaboratively with senior management, in a leadership position on water and wastewater engineering projects. This includes having complete planning, implementation, and management (technical, administrative, financial and client contact and interphase) accountability for projects. Lead multi-disciplinary project teams made up of engineers, scientists, technologists and technicians to deliver high quality projects on time and within budget. Projects may be local, regional, national, and international. Serve as technical lead for a portfolio of projects with responsibility for providing input on deliverables, participating in client presentations, developing proposals and supporting business development activities. Provide strategic direction for leading-edge water infrastructure and environmental programs and projects and promote faster uptake and application within PEER. Represent company at professional association meetings, serve on professional committees, and likewise promote staff participation within company. Education, Experience and Knowledge: MasterA cents € (TM) s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering. Ph.D. is preferred. Professional Engineer (PE) license is required; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar is desired. Minimum 12-15 years of demonstrated experience in engineering modeling, planning and design for water and wastewater systems and associated piping, appurtenances, and related systems (storage, reuse, energy management). Must have the ability to: prepare and review detailed engineering design drawings and specifications; manage and direct AUTOCAD operations; proven and demonstrated technical grasp of water engineering and sciences; technical experience with scientific studies and engineering design skills in the water media with an emphasis on potable water, storm water, domestic wastewater, and fresh waters of the US; and demonstrable experience managing people and leading multi-disciplinary teams. Must also possess excellent oral and written skills, with the ability to analyze and solve technical problems; be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other software applications. Knowledge of pipeline inspection, rehabilitation and condition assessment is highly desired. Board Certification in Environmental Engineering and Science (AAEES), active membership in professional organizations such as ASCE, AWWA, WEF, etc. is desired. Working Conditions: Primarily performed indoors but may require field visits. Conditions could include exposure to extreme cold and/or hot temperatures; also, potential noise and hazards from various physical conditions.
