Description: Leidos has a career opening for a Lead Avionics Installation Technician located in Manassas, VA. JOB SUMMARY: The ideal candidate will lead lower grade technicians in the installation of avionics & navigation equipment. Installations will be conducted in accordance with engineering drawings or Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) while following aircraft wiring standards. The ability to perform basic soldering, harness fabrication and installation including wire stripping and crimping, fault isolation and repair of avionics system failures. Work hours may be adjusted to meet workflow or meet deadlines. Work Environment: Environmental conditions are diverse and could range from an office environment where there is no physical discomfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject individuals to severe changes in temperature, less than adequate lighting, dust and wind. On occasion individuals may be required to work in areas where high noise hazards will prevail and hearing protection is required. Will travel between Manassas and St. Louis. Will travel when needed OCONUS. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Avionics Installation Technician is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties and functions: -Installation of avionics & navigation equipment per engineering and/or or Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) drawings while following aircraft wiring standards -Perform basic soldering, harness fabrication and installation including wire stripping and crimping, fault isolation and repair of avionics system failures -Take an installation from start to finish with minimal supervision -Meet FAA guidelines and well as the customer satisfaction needs. -Perform additional duties as assigned. TA_4 External Referral Eligible Qualifications: -High school diploma and 5+ years of related experience. -Vocational development or on-the-job training of electronic and avionics theory and troubleshooting on aviation systems. -Ability to read and use schematics and drawings. -Experience performing installations on General Aviation, Beechcraft, Gulfstream, Cessna as well as other turboprop and/or corporate jets. -Experience installing Garmin, GoGo Biz, Rockwell Collins, Honeywell and other avionics systems is preferred. -Must be able to obtain a Secret security clearance. Ability to: -Crawl in and out of tight spaces -Comfortably work in confined areas in a kneeling or crouched position -Lift, balance and carry up to 50 lbs. -Work in enclosed hangars as well as exterior in year round weather conditions -Work off site as required Leidos Overview: Leidos is a global science and technology solutions leader working to solve the world s toughest challenges in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, civil, and health markets.
