* Duties Help ## Duties Summary The incumbent will work as a Nutrition Supervisor under the supervision of Operations Manager, Food Service and Production unit, within the Martinsburg West Virginia VA Medical Center Nutrition and Food Service. The incumbent is responsible for 1) assisting Food Service Work Leaders in the management and supervision of approximately ten (10) to twelve (12) full time and part time Wage Grade Food Service Workers, 2) creating weekly schedules and annual leave schedules for all food service employees to ensure daily coverage by the Food Service Workers, 3) handling labor relations issues and conducting annual evaluations of Food Service Workers, 4) evaluating Food Service Work Leaders, 5) planning work flow, 6) providing recommendations to supervisor pertaining to needs and changes, and 7) maintaining inventory of supplies in Food Service areas, and 8) ensuring that Food Service areas meet sanitation and safety standards. **Work Schedule:** Sunday through Thursday 11:30 am - 08:00 pm **Compressed/Flexible Schedule:** Is not available. **Position Description Title/PD#:** Supervisory Food Service Worker/Nutrition Supervisor, WS-7408-04, PD # 06170-A **Relocation/Recruitment Incentives:** Are not authorized. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. **Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:**Work involves frequent stooping, bending, lifting, and moving of containers weighing up to 40 pounds, occasional lifting of over 40 pounds with assistance, constant standing and walking, and repetitive motions such as chopping, reaching, pushing, and/or pulling. Exposure to soiling of hands by dirt, grease, and food. Frequent wetting and occasional chilling of hands. Exposure to kitchen and serving environments, with steam, fumes, noise, and odors from cooking. Exposure to temperature extremes when entering walk-in refrigerators from warm kitchen or accessing freezers. Danger of falling on floors that are wet from mopping or food spills; burns from hot food, grease, water, steam, or equipment; and cuts from knives and electrical or manual cutting machines. Must observe all safety precautions to avoid injury to self and others. Must be careful in handling supplies and equipment to prevent loss or damage to government property. Work is subject to the pressure of completing assignments within a close time tolerance. Must adhere to a rigid timetable in order to accomplish assignments on time and not hinder the work of associates. Education Additional information **Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave:** Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. VA may offer newly-appointed Federal employee's credit for their job-related non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
