Early Childhood Education Faculty (Term Position)
The George Mason University College of Education and Human Development is seeking to add a full-time or part-time faculty colleague (open rank, term) in an inclusive Early Childhood Education program focused on preparing teachers, researchers, and other professionals to work with culturally, linguistically, socio-economically, and ability diverse children, birth through age eight, and their families. The Early Childhood Education program prepares preservice teachers seeking licensure in Early Childhood Education PK-3 and Early Childhood Special Education. Individuals with background and experience in community-based early childhood programs are also encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities for this position include coordinating internships, building and sustaining partnerships with diverse schools and community-based programs, developing and supporting university supervisors and mentor teachers, teaching early childhood education courses, contributing to program development, advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and providing service to the program and college.
Required Qualifications: Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in early childhood education or a closely related field; at least five years of direct teaching experience with culturally, linguistically, socio-economically, and ability diverse children, birth through age eight, and their families; and a commitment to teamwork and collaborative decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include experience building and sustaining partnerships with diverse schools and/or community-based programs, supervising and mentoring interns, and teaching face-to-face and online university courses.
