Director, Internal Audit

The United Mine Workers of America Health and Retirement Funds (the Funds) has an opening for a Director, Internal Audit. The Funds is a group of six multi-employer plans that provide health and pension benefits primarily to retired coal miners and their eligible dependents.

As the Funds’ Director of Internal Audit, the incumbent will plan and direct audits of financial, operational, benefit delivery, accounting, and administrative activities of the Funds in accordance with applicable laws and standards and directives from the Boards of Trustees. The Director executes and supervises the technical performance of audits and related projects. The Director oversees a team of experienced auditors. The Director also participates in ensuring the Funds’ Request for Proposals (RFP) process is carried out impartially and thoroughly.

Candidates should possess a Master’s degree (MBA) or equivalent plus ten to fifteen years related experience and/or training, of which four to ten years should be managerial or supervisory; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex concepts. Must possess refined writing and presentation skills. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license required.
