    Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled.

    GS-09 Qualifications: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the federal service that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

    Examples of specialized experience for this position include: utilizing a variety of digital media/social media tools and techniques to engage the general public and targeted audiences; implement and maintain digital and social media strategies in support of organizational policies and goals; conducting market research; contributing to public affairs/social media campaigns and strategies; developing short video production segments for publication or social media platforms; producing multi-media productions involving the coordination of many of the facets of the process, including direction, audio, video, editing, graphic design and post-production; contributing to existing website content and developing new content; and preparing informational documents, press releases, brochures and publications.

    GS-11 Qualifications: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the federal service that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

    Examples of specialized experience for this position include: utilizing a variety of digital media/social media tools and techniques to engage the general public and targeted audiences; implement and maintain digital and social media strategies in support of organizational policies and goals; writing and/or editing media presentations; conducting market research, developing public affairs/social media campaigns and strategies; developing short video production segments for publication or social media platforms; producing multi-media productions involving the coordination of many of the facets of the process, including direction, audio, video, editing, graphic design and post-production; managing existing website content and developing new content; and developing informational documents, press releases, brochures and publications.

    GS-12 Qualifications: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal service that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

    Examples of specialized experience for this position include: utilizing a wide variety of digital media/social media tools and techniques to engage the general public and targeted audiences; establish, implement and maintain digital and social media strategies in support of organizational policies and goals; writing and/or editing presentations for social media platforms; conducting market research, developing public affairs/social media campaigns and strategies; developing short video production segments for publication or social media platforms; producing multi-media productions involving the coordination of all facets of the process, including direction, audio, video, editing, graphic design and post-production; managing website content and developing new content; and developing informational documents, press releases, brochures and publications.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.

    TIME-IN-GRADE: Current career or career-conditional employees of the Federal government, or former career or career-conditional employees, who have a break in service of less than one year, are required to meet the time-in-grade restriction of one year of Federal experience at the next lower grade, with few exceptions outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).

    Applicants may also qualify for this position based on substitution of education for experience or a combination of education and specialized experience. Qualifying education for the GS-09 and GS-11 level is described below.

    GS-9: A master's degree or equivalent degree OR two full years of progressively higher level education leading lo such a degree, OR an LL.B or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.

    GS-11: A Ph. D or equivalent doctoral degree, OR three full years of progressively higher level graduate studies leading to such a degree OR LL.M, if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
