Assistant Theater Manager
The Assistant Theater Manager assists with the smooth, orderly operation of performances and events in venues as assigned by the Theater Managers at the Kennedy Center. This position also coordinates and evaluates patron services issues related to arrival, wayfinding, the lobby experience, and concessions as they apply to line management and timely arrival of patrons to the theaters. Duties include house management of performances and events, completing performance reports, weekly payroll and settlements, communication with other Kennedy Center departments, and documentation of pertinent information related to performances and events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
40% Assumes house management duties for performances events, and lobby functions as assigned by Theater Managers.
25% Office work related, but not limited to, payroll, statements, settlements and filing.
20% Communicating patron issues including arrival, patron movement and patron experience issues, customer complaints, and general information to appropriate staff.
15% Supervision of theater’s usher staff in conjunction with the Theater Manager and Head Usher.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and two years of supervisory experience.
- Some experience working in theater, music or with the performing arts.
Minimum Skills and/or Knowledge Required
- Excellent interpersonal skills, outstanding customer service, ability to work well under pressure, and effective problem solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
