  • The employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507. Duties of this position are essential to the accomplishment of wartime/contingency operations.
  • This position is emergency-essential (E-E). The incumbent of this position must meet all requirements of E-E positions. During a crisis the incumbent or designated alternate must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority
  • All E-E employees must perform E-E duties during a crisis and/or after noncombatants evacuate.
  • A pre-employment physical examination is required. The duties of this position require moderate physical exertion involving walking and standing, possible use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather.
  • Work may require frequent and/or long term CONUS travel away from the normal duty station.
  • The employee is subject to short notice TDY deployment to meet worldwide operational mission requirements. Employee must be able to complete all pre-deployment training required for the theater of operations.
  • The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime and may require occasional 12 hour shifts
  • The employee must attend, successfully complete and maintain MIM qualifications and currencies per lead command, within 6 months of being hired.
  • Information Assurance and Security A+ Certifications are a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.
  • Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA and A+ certifications within six months of assignment of these duties.
  • A valid driver's license is required for the position.
  • Position will include training in the carrying and use of firearms because incumbent can be deployed to contingency locations and participate in wartime and contingency operations where and when there may be a requirement to carry firearms.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position
  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience which includes knowledge of complex IT systems analysis and application software concepts, functions, techniques, and capabilities sufficient to evaluate the feasibility of proposed new systems and applications software projects, and to design, write, test, debug and maintain information systems and application software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the GS-11 grade/level or equivalent in the federal service.

    FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-11 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
    1. Knowledge of IT systems analysis and applications software concepts, functions, techniques, and capabilities
    2. sufficient to evaluate new and emerging IT security methods and principles, feasibility of proposed new systems and applications software projects; and to design, write, test, debug, and maintain information systems and applications software and ensure successful integration with existing and anticipated infrastructure in the database environment.
    3. Knowledge of operational activities (such as special operations, personnel recovery, airlift, etc...), weapon systems, and command, control, and mission process, systems, and applications.
    4. Knowledge of IT management information systems and applications software technology to isolate causes of problems between hardware, system, and applications software programs and to measure system performance and/or extend operating system capabilities to support organizational business processes and operations.
    5. Knowledge of IT management information systems requirements and application software development techniques required in carrying out project assignments of considerable difficulty and with little specificity regarding approach to be followed. Knowledge of support principles sufficient to receive, respond to, and ensure complete resolution of problems.
    6. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements

    PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    IF USING EDUCATION TO QUALIFY: You MUST provide transcripts to support your educational claims. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

    FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
