MDI System Administrator, Office of the Associate Dean - McCourt School of Public Policy

The McCourt School of Public Policy (MSPP) at Georgetown University is a top-ranked public policy school located in the center of the policy world in Washington, D.C. Our mission is to teach our students to help design, analyze, and implement smart policies and put them into practice in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, in the U.S. and around the world.

The MDI System Administrator assists the development and support of the Mass Data Institute (MDI) Infrastructure for interdisciplinary research. The MDI System Administrator has duties that include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the development of the new infrastructure and its processes for security and access.
  • Sets up and maintains MDI components on Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure; and managing the accounts.
  • Assists MDI faculty run analyzes on these systems.
  • Works with faculty and graduate students to help them use the new computing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience for RedHat, Linux, Hadoop, and system administration
  • 3 years of prior of system administration experience
  • Experience with Linux and Unix operating systems and provisioning applications;
  • Experience with Big Data environments such as Hadoop and Accumulo and provisioning software
  • Experience with Cloud providers such as Azure, AWS, and Google

Preferred qualifications

  • Multiple System certifications in provisioning technologies such as RedHat Certified, Linux+, and Security+
  • Experience with VMWare hypervisor environment and provisioning software
