Virginia Economic Development Partnership is seeking an experienced economic development professional to successfully promote Virginia to targeted industry executives and site selection consultants as the preferred location for new and expanding business facilities.
The Business Manager will support the development and implementation of VEDP’s business investment strategy, and provide project management on economic development opportunities considering Virginia. The Business Manager will work with interested company executives, and local and regional economic developers to successfully locate new and expanding business operations to Virginia. The Business Manager will support VEDP’s lead generation programs by conducting targeted marketing outreach to prospective companies, site selection consultants and commercial real estate brokers.
Candidates must possess considerable executive level sales and marketing experience in an economic development office or corporate business environment. The Business Manager must have demonstrated project management and lead generation experience, as well as experience in developing and implementing a sales and marketing plan to effectively close deals. The Business Manager is expected to demonstrate the ability to manage in a team environment and leverage partners in the public and private sectors, including higher education partners, and local and regional economic development partners. The Business Manager must have excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Applicants must also have strong organizational skills and be able to plan and successfully manage multiple tasks. Proficiency in using multiple PC software packages is required. Experience with Salesforce is a plus. Frequent travel is required. A valid Virginia’s driver’s license is required and the candidate must be able to obtain a passport. Undergraduate degree in marketing, business administration or economics or equivalent work experience is required. Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) designation or other industry certification is a plus.
