  • This is a Financial Management Level I certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. You must achieve this level within prescribed timelines. Certification requirements are in DoD Instruction 1300.26.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Additional Requirements: In addition to the Basic Requirements listed in the Education section, your resume must also demonstrate one year of specialized experience, as follows:

    GS-07: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector in researching, gathering, analyzing, and evaluating data using spreadsheets and other analytical tools; and preparing written documents.

    GS-09: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates experience assisting with auditing activities (e.g., analyzing data to identify trends, composing reports or papers to present findings, participating in briefings.).

    NOTE: In lieu of specialized experience, applicants may qualify based on equivalent combination of education and experience for grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable. Please go to the Education section for further details.

    Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

    Degree in accounting or degree in related field such as business admin, finance, or public admin that included or supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting and/or auditing. (The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law). OR, Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Such background also includes one of the following: 1) 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality; or, 2) a certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination, or; 3) completion of requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing.

    Additional Requirements: In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on equivalent combination of education and experience, as follows:

    GS-07: Successfully completed one full year of graduate level education. Such education must demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do work of the position; OR, Successfully completed bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement; OR, Combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.

    GS-09: Successfully completed master's or equivalent graduate degree; OR, Successfully completed two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to master's degree. Such education must demonstrate knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for work of the position. OR, Combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
