  • You qualify for the GS-13 grade level (starting salary $87,252) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level performing the full range of investigative duties to include meeting all parts of the following: 1) initiating investigations from informant tips, allegations, or leads; 2) developing evidence by conducting interviews, documentary searches, surveillance, etc. and participating on multi-agency task forces; 3) preparing concise, logical reports of investigation and summaries; 4) maintaining liaison with law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal level; 5) planning and conducting surveillance, issuing subpoenas, serve as a team member or an assistant for search and arrest warrants; and 6) executing search and arrest warrants pursuant to criminal investigations; and 7) testifying in criminal, civil, or administrative court proceedings.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.     This position is being announced under OIG's Cadre of On-call Response/Recovery Employee (CORE) Program. This is a temporary appointment in the Excepted Service, not to exceed 2 years, with the option to extend based on workload and funding availability not beyond a total of 4 years.

    Veterans Preference does not apply to the CORE selection process.

    This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
