  • You may qualify at the GS -13 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:

    A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
    • Experience conducting technical security assessment of information technology (IT) systems and projects through information gathering and use of IT security tools.
    • Provide technical security guidance to system owners for system change requests and engineering projects; communicate security information to senior leadership and agency officials.
    • Develop security policies, standard operating procedures, and implementation plans.

    GS-5 through GS-15 (or equivalent): For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

    Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
    Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
    Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
    Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

    Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

    ACQUISITION POSITION: This is an Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L) Workforce position in the Information Technology career field.The incumbent will be required to become certified, Level II (Category R) in the applicable career field within 24 months, unless a Position Requirements Waiver is approved to extend the 24 months.

    This position is a DoD Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program (DoD 8570.01) position. Must meet requirements of DoD Directive 8570.01 - "Information Assurance Training, Certification, and Workforce Management" as an Insurance Assurance Manager Level III.
