Administrator, Discovery Programs
The Global Education Office at George Mason University is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic person to administer their Discovery Programs. Discovery Programs are study abroad experiences tied to regularly scheduled semester courses. Course development is supported by a faculty grant.
Responsibilities: The Administrator will be responsible for assisting with logistical arrangements, assistance in participant recruitment, processing payments to vendors, and coordinating with academic and administrative departments. Grant proposals will be accepted twice a year. The Administrator will be responsible for supporting approximately 30 grant recipients per year providing opportunities for approximately 600 students. The administrator will by necessity liaise with the Office of Student Financial Aid, academic departments to support the grants, and the Global Education Office Scholarship and Grants Specialist. In addition to assisting faculty in developing course work on the ground and program logistics, the administrator will be responsible for recruiting faculty to teach embedded course work and selecting awardees.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must have experience with programming, logistics and project management, be able to keep track of multiple time sensitive tasks, pay great attention to detail, work with people of different cultures, have strong computer skills (word processing and spreadsheet management) as well has strong administrative background.
Preferred Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a BA in International Studies, Education, or Foreign Language, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and demonstrated administrative experience, a background in study abroad, higher education administration, experiential education or field studies.
