The George Mason University School of Law invites applications for the Associate Registrar. Responsibilities: The primary role of the Associate Registrar is to: ensure the accuracy of student records and information provided by the office in response to inquiries and other requests for information; preserve the confidentiality of all student records and exam/grade related material; provide outstanding customer service to students, faculty, and staff regarding course, registration, exam, and records matters; and support faculty and staff on academic planning and initiatives. Specific duties include:

  • Coordinating with faculty and staff on class schedules and registration;
  • Arranging and administering law school exams;
  • Overseeing the recording of final grades and class standings;
  • Certifying students for graduation and bar examinations and responding to other record verification requests;
  • Analyzing and preparing enrollment, grading, and bar reports for staff, faculty, and outside entities (for example, the ABA, LSDAS, and SCHEV);
  • Ensuring the accuracy of student records and data and other information provided in response to inquiries and other requests for information;
  • Counseling students on academic records and planning questions;
  • Assisting students with transfer, visiting or accommodation matters;
  • Coordinating as appropriate with other University offices, including Registrars Office, Student Accounts, Financial Aid;
  • Managing law school Records office and Records office staff (including temporary/ seasonal employees); and
  • Serving as a nonvoting member on several academic faculty committee. Systems used include Microsoft Excel, PatriotWeb and Ellucian Banner.

Required Qualifications:
  • Masters degree or a J.D. is required, as are a demonstrated attention to detail, comfort working with numbers and basic mathematical calculations, and ability to assess data and situations critically. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in law school administration, or college or university level registrars office, preferred; and
  • Preference is also given to applicants with strong customer service, data collection and assessment, and computer skills (especially familiarity with Excel, PatriotWeb, and Banner.
