Position Summary: Accounting Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate processing and recording of transactions in the areas of accounts payable and payroll processing.
Duties & Responsibilities: Accounts Payable: Sort, code and match invoices; review invoices; track expenses reports; prepare and process electronic transfers, payments/check requests; audit and process credit card bills; match vendor invoices; respond to vendor inquiries; reconcile vendor statements; prepare analyses; assist with month end closing; maintain files and documentation, in accordance with company policies and accepted accounting practices.
Payroll: Perform daily payroll operations in the accounting system and ADP; manage workflow processes accurately and timely; reconcile payroll; execute time and attendance processing in accounting software, and reconcile with ADP; process year-end reports; prepare ad hoc financial and operational reports; update and reconcile monthly bank statements for payroll/benefit; timely respond to payroll queries; manage 401k processes; and other duties as required/assigned.
Education, Experience, and Knowledge: B.S Degree Business/Accounting or 3 - 5 years in accounts payable/payroll; must have knowledge of general accounting and accounts payable processes and procedures; accounting software applications (e.g. Deltek, GCS Premier, Costpoint, Unanet); ADP payroll; able to handle sensitive and confidential information; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels; decision-making, problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills required; strong PC skills and proficiency in Excel, able to build spreadsheets.
Working Conditions: Office work generally involves standing and walking for brief periods but most office duties may be performed from a seated position. Work may involve lifting and carrying over short distances paper and supplies weighing less than 25 pounds.
