As the Airline Business Development Data Analyst, you will build, maintain, and generate internal air service databases, data reports, and airline service presentations.

Airline Business Development Data Analyst

Serves in the Office of Airline Business Development (ABD) in the Office of Chief Revenue Officer at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Builds, develops, and maintains a variety of internal databases (using current data subscriptions) that can easily be accessed by the ABD staff to better understand the airline service market and to craft their airline service pitches to airlines. Performs related functions.



Provides strategic analytical support in the form of advanced forecasts, unique analyses and other key information used by the ABD staff to enhance airline service.

Builds, develops, and maintains a variety of internal databases such as passenger bookings by zip code, U.S. and Foreign carrier market detail performance databases, etc.  Ensures accuracy and effectiveness of data provided, as well as analytical support in interpreting data.

Generates weekly/monthly/quarterly reports for Airports Authority executives, ABD staff, certain external stakeholders and other Airports Authority staff that require the information.


Reports include, but are not limited to, weekly airline schedule change reports, monthly capacity reports, monthly hub performance tracking reports, and quarterly passenger reports.


Assists ABD staff in developing business cases and airline service presentations; provides analytics to support growth in regional domestic flights, cargo, and other special projects as needed.

Represents the Airports Authority at industry events and other functions.


Performs other duties as assigned.


Two years of progressively responsible experience in business development and financial/market analyses.

Knowledge of and skill in using data sources, forecasting, and other analytical methods to perform market analyses and develop business cases.

Skill in writing clear, detailed business and economic reports and presentations for management.

Knowledge of and ability to apply market trends, economic conditions, and business economics to forecasting and identifying business trends and opportunities.

Ability to perform detailed analyses of data and information and make recommendations.

Skill in using a computer and office suite software, with a heavy emphasis on spreadsheet and presentation software (such as Excel and Power Point).

Ability to speak and write effectively.


Knowledge of the commercial airline industry, airline hub locations, growth strategies, and market segmentation.

Experience developing airline business (international or domestic).


A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Aviation Management, Marketing, or related field.


A state driver’s license in good standing.

A valid passport prior to hire, promotion, or placement in the job.


Must maintain a valid passport.

Work is typically reviewed in progress and upon completion for quantity, quality, timeliness, teamwork, customer service, and other factors.

May be required to travel to domestic and international locations on occasion and as required.

A background security investigation will be required for all new hires.
