Dewberry is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our Resilience Solutions group in our Fairfax, VA office as a Senior GIS Professional. Qualified candidates will have strong competencies and demonstrated experience in: conducting geospatial analysis and producing geospatial products; GIS mapping and visualization technologies; implementation of geospatial web and desktop applications; floodplain mapping and water resources; emergency management and disaster related services; production of FGDC compliant metadata; FEMA Regulatory and Non Regulatory Product Development; and will be proficient with a range of ESRI ArcGIS software (including ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcSDE, 3D Analyst, and Spatial Analyst). The successful candidate will coordinate with other members of the GIS team and various project managers while working on multiple concurrent projects in a fast paced, and deadline driven environment.This position will mostly focus on advanced GIS analyses and production efforts in support of FEMA Flood Insurance Studies and other water resource related projects in our Fairfax, VA office. Typical responsibilities are to work on water resources projects for federal, state and local clients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work on consulting projects for federal, state, and local government agency clients.As needs arise, must be able to deploy on at least one, 6-month or more, FEMA related post-disaster assignment during first 2 years of employment.Support large scale geospatial analytical modeling efforts to identify hazards, assess risk, and evaluate risk reduction methods.Assisting engineers in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modeling, and floodplain mapping.Develop and maintain GIS databases, maps, and reports to represent hydrologic and hydraulic data for FEMA Risk MAP Flood Insurance Studies.Developing flood risk products and performing flood risk assessments.Perform analysis on GIS datasets for flood hazard mapping and risk projects.Checking for technical accuracy of GIS and geospatial deliverables and associated reports.Coordinating with the project team, project managers, clients, local communities, and other contractors to compile all data necessary to produce the most up-to-date product.
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or related field.7+ years of experience in the GIS/Remote Sensing Field.In-depth knowledge of ESRI's software, including ArcGIS 10x and ArcGIS Pro.Strong MS Excel and MS Access skills to leverage various data sources for use in GIS projectsExperience / knowledge in geospatial programming using Python.Experience with the ESRI suite of products (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcObjects, ArcSDE, Arc Engine, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, 3D Analyst, and Spatial Analyst).Innovation, enthusiasm, and creativity - ability to develop new ideas and to chart a pathAbility to effectively juggle multiple tasks concurrentlyStrong verbal and written communication skills.Willingness to travel for an extended period of time during a disaster response is required.
